Frequently Asked Questions
Does karma unlock higher model tiers?
No. Karma gives a small bonus to your daily call quota within your existing plan tier — capped at 2.5× for the highest karma scores. It never unlocks models beyond what your plan allows. On the Free plan karma only multiplies calls to local models that cost OASIS nothing. On paid plans the bonus is modest and kept financially sustainable.
How do I earn karma?
Karma accumulates through meaningful real-world and in-world actions in the OASIS ecosystem: playing OurWorld, picking up litter or spending time in nature in OurWorld, completing quests and missions, publishing OAPPs, adopting or rescuing animals in Noah's Ark, healing people or animals in the Global Healing Network, helping other avatars, verified credential grants, community contributions, and participating in governance. The GET /v1/usage endpoint shows your current karma score and multiplier in real time.
What counts as one "call"?
Any request to a WEB6 AI endpoint — a completion, image generation, embedding, speech synthesis, translation, search query, etc. — counts as one call. Batch submissions count as one call per batch job, not per item within the batch.
What happens when I hit my daily call limit?
The API returns a 429 with a clear message showing your limit, how many calls you've made today, your karma multiplier, and the UTC time when your quota resets (midnight UTC). You can upgrade your plan or earn more karma to increase your quota.
Do quotas reset daily?
Yes — call quotas reset at midnight UTC every day. Monthly USD spend budgets (if configured) reset on the 1st of each month UTC.
Can I use every WEB6 endpoint on the Free plan?
Yes — all 35+ endpoints are available on every plan including Free. The plan only restricts which models back those endpoints. On Free you can use completions, embeddings, image generation, speech, translation, RAG, agents and more — all powered by local/self-hosted models.
